Front Page Magazine: "Russian Intelligence and Islamic Terror", by Jamie Glazov

Frontpage Interview's guest today is Konstantin Preobrazhenskiy, a former KGB agent who became one of the KGB’s harshest critics. He is the author of seven books about the KGB and Japan. His new book is KGB/FSB's New Trojan Horse: Americans of Russian Descent.

FP: Konstantin Preobrazhenskiy, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

Is Russia America’s ally in fighting Islamic terrorism?

Preobrazhenskiy: No absolutely not. And this is one of the many American prejudices and misunderstandings of Russia.

Americans generally believe that Russia is as afraid of Islamic terrorism as the U.S. is. They are reminded of the war in Chechnya, the hostage crisis at the Beslan School in 2004 and at the Moscow Theater in 2002, and of the apartment house blasts in Moscow in 1999, where over 200 people were killed. It is clear that Russians are also targets of terrorism today.

But in all of these events, the participation of the FSB, Federal Security Service, inheritor to the KGB, is also clear. The FSB’s involvement in the Moscow blasts has been proven by lawyer Mikhail Trepashkin, a former FSB Colonel. For this he was illegally imprisoned in 2003.

A key distinction between Russian and American attitudes towards Islamic terrorism is that while for America terrorism is largely seen as an exterior menace, Russia uses terrorism as a tool of the state for manipulation in and outside the home country. Islamic terrorism is only part of the world of terrorism. Long before Islamic terrorism became a global threat, the KGB had used terrorism to facilitate the victory of world Communism.

FP: Give us the background of Soviet involvement with Islamic terror. (...) >>>

It was at the time of this terrorist wave that it first struck me that all these groups sprang up in earlier "Axis" countries: Germany, Italy and Japan. Now we know that on a philosophical level there's none to choose between the far Left and the far Right; the same mindset and principles lie at the roots of Islam: subjective collectivism.

City Journal: "Rebels to the Death - A definitive, updated history of West Germany’s depraved Baader-Meinhof terrorists"

The Weather Underground, a leftist terrorist group from the 1970s, played a bit role in last fall’s presidential election through the association of unrepentant former Weatherman Bill Ayers with his fellow Chicagoan, Barack Obama. That kind of connection would have come as no surprise in Germany, where the Weather Underground’s far more deadly counterpart, the Red Army Faction (RAF), also known as the Baader-Meinhof gang, continues to cast a shadow over the country’s politics. In 1985, German journalist Stefan Aust published the definitive book on the RAF, The Baader-Meinhof Complex. His book has since been turned into a successful feature film of the same name,  (...) >>>

Hurd on the Web: "Swedish Leftists and Their Muslim Allies", by Dale Hurd

In my TV piece for CBN News from Malmö, Sweden about the rise in Muslim influence, I show leftists and anarchists marching alongside Muslims and Arabs who are chanting a death threat to Jews from the Koran. The Muslims are chanting "Khaybar Khaybar ya Yahud, jaysh Muhammad saufa ya'ud. The translation is "Khaybar, Khaybar o Jews, the army of Muhammad will return". Khaybar refers to a Jewish town on the Saudi peninsula wiped out by Mohammed in 628 A.D. The Muslim Hadith says that Muhammad killed the men in Khaybar and took the women and children as slaves. (Below is more raw footage of the march in Malmö against the Sweden-Israel Davis Cup Match on Saturday, March 7. It was not shot or posted to YouTube by CBN).

As I have reported before, anti-Semitism experts such as Manfred Gerstenfeld, Robert Wistrich and Andrei Markovits believe hatred of Israeli policies by the European Left has morphed into full-blown anti-Semitism. The fuel for it is ridiculously one-sided coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. You do see occasional statements from leftist political leaders that they object to Israel, but also oppose anti-Semitism. So, why march with anti-Semites? And where is the condemnation from Sweden's Leftist establishment for Muslims chanting death threats? >>>

This article does a great job in parsing pomo Buruma, as if facts and reality mattered! Buruma is not a quest for truth but renders an ideological indictment that tries to pass for it. Whereas some time ago we were still confused by their rhetorical parlor games, today it is no exaggeration to say that postmodernists' fascist roots are showing. That is what we're dealing with. As for the hatred, by rights that would belong in the realm of psychopathology (projection), if it wasn't used in a very scary way to stir up pathos and thus almost act as a Sorelian myth ...

Ian Buruma, who has been given to some remarkable pronouncements on Islam, published on Friday a remarkable article in The New York Times on Geert Wilders. The article, “Totally Tolerant, Up To A Point,” was intended essentially to blacken the name of Geert Wilders, to present him – for likening the Qur’an to Mein Kampf – as, by contamination, a Nazi himself (...)>>>

Politeia: "The Burning Streets: How We Got Here"

Seldom was an assumption as naive as the idea prevailing since 1989 that political radicalism was over, just because the major agitator - the Soviet Union - had collapsed under its own weight. This notion in the heads of security services, politicians and the general public supports the evidence that the West swallowed Communist disinformation and propaganda, hook, line and sinker. Here's one that pervades Western popular thinking to this very day. Also on the level of ideas 'Leftism' and its origins, has been very badly understood. The first harbinger of a better understanding was posited by philosopher and historian Sir Isaiah Berlin who coined the term, the Counter-Enlightenment in his book "Against the Current" in 1979 (Hogarth Press). In all probability this trouveille can be attributed to Nietzsche, who used the term "die Gegenaufklärung" at the end of the nineteenth century. (...) This radical Left movement is just as ready for a scorched earth as radical Islamism is. Whereas the former have nothing left to lose after their ideals collapsed over their ears, the latter are urged to self-sacrifice for a global victory of the collective Ummah. It is a marriage quite literally made in hell: both are negators of the life-force, but for different reasons. A culture's implicit sense of life is all-pervasive. Theirs has translated into the negative territory of nihilism and death-worship. For Muslims man is a mere plaything in the hands of a fickle God. To Postmodernists man is a drifter in a purposeless, unknowable universe whose fate is determined by chaos and glandular secretions. And this is how we got here: World Security Network: "Urban Radicalism in Europe and Terrorism", by Ioannis Michaletos (...) >>>

It looks like one former member of the unholy alliance has now finally redeemed themselves, former Flemish neo Nazistic party, Vlaams Belang and its chairman, Filip Dewinter ...

(...) the left is as great an enemy of the Jewish people as Islam. Both are decrying Israel's self defense, both are marching calling for the death of Israel and the death of Jews. It is no secret. The left wing parties march under the flag of Hezballah in Sweden and the leftists call on Euro governments demanding Israel stop defending herself. It is these same parties that feed their willing US dupes inaccurate propaganda to smear and destroy Filip Dewinter. There is something sinister in the demonization of the rare political party that stands for Israel, staunchly defends her and demands actions to protect the Jewish people. This should be encouraged among the friends of Israel.

While impostors and their half wit lemmings turn themselves inside to explain the unexplainable - the fact is - it is enormously unpopular with the electorate in Europe to back Israel and so it is a principled stand, a rare thing indeed. I stand with Vlaams Belang because by their fruits ye shall know them, and so I know them. Front Page Magazine: "To Gaza, With Love"

Free Gaza is a coalition of groups, including notable members such as the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), and the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), but one assisted by an international cast of radicals, some themselves Jewish. (...) Israelis agonized over the initial decision to let FG come to port in Gaza, dreading international opinion if it intercepted the boat. Ultimately, one Israeli official described the floating protesters as "professional anarchists and pro-Hamas activists" whom they wished to deny publicity. Olmert made the decision after consultation with Ehud Barak - the men now making war policy against Gaza.

The SS DIGNITY has visited Gaza six times since then, delivering "mail (that hasn't been though Israeli hands)" - and thus may contain sensitive military information or terrorist communiques - and carrying away Palestinian "students" as return cargo. The activists' tone has hardly mellowed. After a November landing, FG accused Israel of "Chemical Warfare on Palestinian Fishermen." In a press conference in the Cypriot port of Larnaca just before it departed Monday night, the group referred to Operation Cast Lead as an Israeli "blitzkrieg." (...) The participation of McKinney, Ridley, and the other assorted leftists and Islamic fundamentalists in the Free Gaza sortie but maintains a continuing tradition of radicals attempting to offer material support to terrorists and their supporters. (...) In the heyday of the "antiwar" movement, radicals like Tom Hayden made pilgrimages to North Vietnam to witness the foundation of a "rice roots democracy." Later, U.S. Senators Chris Dodd and Robert Torricelli wrote "Dear Commandate" letters to Nicaraguan Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega, while others traveled to Cuba.

One such errant acolyte, Medea Benjamin, led the charge to solidify an alliance with Islamist terrorists and other murderers of U.S. soldiers. In December 2004, Code Pink activists delivered $600,000 in cash and supplies to "the other side" in Fallujah, a stronghold of Iraqi "insurgents." As David Horowitz and Ben Johnson mention in their book Party of Defeat, the trip was made possible by a letter signed by California Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman.

In early 2006, Benjamin, Sheehan, and Obama campaign bundler and former Jerry Brown campaign manager Jodie Evans flew to Caracas to meet with Hugo Chavez. (...) The Associated Press reports Iran may now be headed to Gaza - or may have been before the grounding of the SS DIGNITY. (...) Food, supplies, and well-meaning Persians may not account for all the cargo. Professor Raymond Tanter, president of the Iran Policy Committee, told The Jerusalem Post the Iranian Red Crescent "humanitarian" ship is a Trojan horse designed to smuggle Iranian intelligence agents and members of the al-Quds Force into Gaza. With the right coordination, ship full of leftists and pro-jihadists could work just as well. (...) >>>

Politeia: "The Cross and the Crescent", by Dr Sam Holliday

In his 1996 book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, Samuel Huntington predicts a clash between the West and the Islamic world as some Muslims continue their attempt to establish the Great Caliphate – in which everyone is governed by “the ways of the Prophet.” In 1921 Hendrick Van Loon, in The Story of Mankind, described the struggle between the cross and the crescent. (...)

Today we face the third episode in the Great Jihad (Holy War). The current so-called War on Terror could be a precursor for a final Clash of Civilizations, or it might be only a skirmish, which if handled correctly can prevent death and destruction of a magnitude the world has never seen. This essay is an attempt to determine the nature of the current threat to Western culture and to suggest what should be done. (...) >>>

... DeWinter - a reformed Nazi sympathizer - has managed to ingratiate himself with the transatlantic counter islamization movement ... personally I'm not entirely convinced he has reformed ... indeed Pamela's article below shows the unholy alliance of all three subjectivist branches: Leftist and Rightist Socialists and Islam ...

Atlas Shrugs: "Dewinter Battles the Leftwing Fascists, Islamists as Allies"

DeWinter does battle with the leftist fascists. Atlas readers are familiar with these thugs when I covered the Anti-Islam rally in Cologne, Germany (a Jewish man who was beaten and kicked with steel toe boots - his account here).

German Neo-Nazis View Islamists as Allies (hat tip Andy Bostom)

When protesters in Cologne last month managed, with the blessing of the city government, to prevent the holding of an “Anti-Islamification Congress,” the cancellation of the event was widely hailed in the German and international media as a victory against “right-wing extremists” or, more simply put, “Nazis.” (See [1] here, for instance, from the English-language site of the German weekly Der Spiegel.)

[2] A new report from the domestic intelligence service of the German city-state of Hamburgshows, however, that actual neo-Nazi groups in Germany — i.e., groups that themselves embrace this description — in fact likewise opposed the “Anti-Islamification Congress” and are notably hostile to its sponsor, the “citizens’ movement” Pro-Cologne [Pro-Köln].

While the neo-Nazis agitate against what they describe as Germany’s “flooding by foreigners” — or “Überfremdung” — they take precautions against criticizing Islamic influences or Islam as such, since the latter is rather “to be seen as an ally.”

... the following entry requires an explanation: this file is dedicated to listing the similarities between Western subjectivist thought (Right as well as Left collectivism) and Islam. The following is an excerpt of an interview the Egyptian blogger Sandmoney had with the prospective new number 2 of the Muslim Brotherhood; it may be a hitch in the translation, but he uses a very peculiar wording when explaining why he was somewhat disappointed about Obama - as he put it: "We are not so sure about Senator Obama either, because of his Israel visit, him saying that Israel is a democracy ..." - this is such a subjectivist way of discussing a fact! Israel is either a democracy (which it evidently is), or it is not. How can someone's opinion possibly change that? Clearly a case of fear that '(expression of) thought creates reality'. Muslims Against Sharia: "Anti-Hate Group Calls on Democrats to Disinvite Radical Muslim Leader From Convention"

Americans Against Hate (AAH) is calling on the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) to disinvite Ingrid Mattson, the National President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), from speaking at its Denver convention. Mattson is scheduled to help lead a convention interfaith forum tomorrow, Sunday, August 24th. ISNA, a group related to the violent Muslim Brotherhood, was named by the U.S. government a co-conspirator for a 2007 federal trial which dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. Also, as recently as last month, under Mattson's watch, ISNA propagated material on its national website calling for the murder of Jews and the waging of war against Jews and Christians. The violent ISNA documents can be viewed here. AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman stated, "It is unconscionable for the Democratic leadership to allow the head of a group that is connected to terrorism and that spreads hate against others to participate in a political convention. Townhall: "Hitler’s Favorite Jihadist," by David R. Stokes

David G. Dalin and John F. Rothman have written a new book, one that should be read by all Americans seeking to understand current geopolitical reality, called: "Icon of Evil: Hitler’s Mufti and the Rise of Radical Islam." They make a compelling and well-documented case that we are actually fighting the quasi-spiritual offspring of Nazism and Fascism. Haj Amin al-Husseini (1895-1974) is by no means a household name today, but his story is a key historical plot-point helping to create the mess we now find ourselves in. From his appearance on the stage of turbulent Middle Eastern politics in 1921, until his death fifty-three years later, he was a consistent and vociferous voice preaching a blend of anti-Semitic, anti-Western, and pan-Islamic rhetoric to anyone who would lend an ear. And there were plenty of listeners. There still are. He was the grand mufti (maximum leader) of all Muslims in Palestine – the big kahuna. (...) >>>

Politeia: "Tribute to 1955 Constantinople Kristallnacht"

My Greek Odyssey, in "Kristallnacht in Constantinople", first published in September/October 2007 issue of Greek America Magazine, is paying tribute to history in an important post on the all but forgotten 1955 pogrom of Constantinople, for which the Nazi Kristallnacht stood as a model. It is important, not just because the pogrom finally destroyed the remaining vestiges of Hellenistic Byzantium in Constantinople, both in physical and psychological sense; it is also relevant today as myths are purposely erected to 'sell' postmodern geopolitical developments, which are presented, not as man-made policies but as inevitable Acts of God, or Hegelian 'historical events': the 'multicultural society that is upon us' and the creation of multi-ethnic and multi-cultural super-states at the expense of nations, also known as transnational progressivism. (...)

My Greek Odyssey concludes that "The Turkish government, press, and nation 'justified' this savagery on the false pretext that the Greeks had bombed the house of Ataturk in Thessaloniki. In reality the Greeks had not placed the bomb in the Turkish consular complex in that city on September 6. It had been put there by a Turk, in collusion with the Turkish government, in order to provide the pretext for a carefully laid plan to destroy the houses, the businesses, the property, the churches, the schools, the newspapers of the Greeks in Constantinople. It was a "logical" sequence (in Turkish minds) to the oppressive Varlik Vergisi of 1942-1943, a Turkish confiscatory law which destroyed the economic bases of the Greek, Turkish and other minority communities. The pogrom of 1955 was a Turkish "success" as it finally destroyed the ancient Hellenism of Constantinople, both in physical and psychological dimensions. >>>

Atlas Shrugs: "We are not Worthy", by Pamela Geller

(...) First, it's got to use the actual word in Arabic for "peace," not the phony substitutes. For it turns out there are three different words in Arabic for "peace." Only one of them is for real. And it's not the one used at Annapolis, just like it wasn't the one used at Camp David II, Oslo, or Camp David I. All failed a linguistic test, a test which any real Arab-Israeli agreement must pass, the Test of Suhl. The three Arabic words translated as "peace" in English are salaam, hudna, and suhl.

Salaam is the peace of submission. It's the drawn out pronunciation of "slm" in "Islam," (written Arabic has no vowels) the Arabic word for submission and obedience, and in "Moslem" or "Muslim," the Arabic word for "one who submits." There is peace, salaam, among Moslems when they submit to Allah and the teachings of the Koran. There is peace, salaam, between Moslems and kafirs, infidels, only when the latter submit to the rule of the former.

In other words, salaam, Moslem peace, is not the absence of violence as it is for us, but the absence of disobedience. Just like it was for the Communists. In Lenin's words:

As long as capitalism and (Soviet) socialism exist, we cannot live in peace. In the end, one or the other will triumph - a funeral dirge will be sung over the Soviet republic or over world capitalism. Or, as the Soviet Military Encyclopedia stated it: Peace is impossible without Soviet socialism. A truly lasting peace is impossible and cannot be achieved without a proletarian revolution. Compare Lenin's words to the words of Allah, as dictated to Mohammed in the Koran:
- Fight and slay the unbelievers wherever you find them. Seize them, confine them, lie in wait for them in every place of ambush. (Sura 9:5)
- Believers! Do not befriend your fathers or your brothers or your sons if they choose unbelief in preference to belief in Allah. (Sura 9:22)
- Fight those who do not believe in Allah, those who do not forbid what Allah and his apostle have forbidden, fight them until they pay tribute to the believers and are utterly subdued. (Sura 9:29)
- Mohammed is Allah's apostle. Those who follow him are merciless towards the unbelievers but kind to each other. (Sura 48:29)
- O Unbelievers! We renounce you. Enmity and hatred will reign between us until you believe in Allah alone. (Sura 60:4)
Just as there could not be peace with the Soviets until we sang a funeral dirge over the Soviet Union, there cannot be peace with Moslems who believe that salaam requires Islam to be a religion of the sword.
Hudna, the second Arabic word translated in English as "peace," means cease-fire, a temporary truce. When the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, for example, proposes a hudna with Israel, it's hailed in the Western media as a peace proposal. It is instead a tactical, temporary break in hostilities, giving Moslems time to re-organize, re-arm, then renew the Jihad against the kafirs when they can be most caught off-guard. >>>

(...) On the other hand, an important insight is provided by describing more recent history. During the course of the last century Amin Al Husseini, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem between 1921 and 1948 and uncle to Yassir Arafat, is correctly identified as the link between the precedent of the massacre of the Jewish tribes at M'dina at the hand of Mohammed for failing to accept Dhimmitude, and the justification of the Turkish genocides of Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians in the aftermath of World War I, as well as the Nazi Holocaust (recommended video) during World War II.

As Mohammed is the measure of everything in Islam, the less than loyal attitude of the Dhimmi groups that were subjugated and unwillingly integrated into the Turkish (Ottoman) Empire, likewise resulted in their mass murder. Strikingly Adolf Hitler came up with the so-called Dolk Stoss concoction against the Jews, 'treason' resulting in the loss of World War I on the part of the German-Turko side - a similar justification for Holocaust. Muslims Against Sharia: "If Not Islamofascism, What Name to Give?", by Dr. Alamgir Hussain

The media have been abuzz in recent weeks condemning the Islamofascism Awareness Week, held last week in College and University campuses across America. The event was organized by former communist turned conservative activist, David Horowitz, and his Freedom Centre ....

Horowitz’s Freedom Centre also takes aim at the American left, who have made the educational institutions as exclusive forts of their propaganda, impregnable to contrary views. He also accuses the left of forming an unassailable alliance with the dangerous Islamists, who will make every effort to destroy the very ideals ― secularism, democracy, liberalism, human rights, and rights of homosexuals etc. ― which they holds dear. ...

The major focus of criticism of Horowitz’s Islamofascism Week is that the term, Islamofascism, tends to lump all Muslims together as fascists or terrorists. ... the term "Islamo-fascism" was coined by secular Muslims to describe the murderous ideology and activities of the Islamic radicals in the bloody civil war-stricken Algeria.

Horowitz, however, has been at pains trying to explain that he does not put all Muslims in the same balance. In stead, his message is targeted at a segment of Muslims, who use a fascistic and violent strain within Islam. He went on to explain in an interview that although not all Italians were fascists in the 1930-40s, yet Italian fascism was a widely accepted phrase. Italian fascism did not mean that all Italians were fascists. ...

The result turned out just as expected. The left on campuses ganged up with the Muslim Students Association ― founded, according to Journalist Joe Kaufman, by the militant Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood ― to disrupt the Islamofascism Week talks. They created disruption and chaos in most campuses making it impossible for Horowitz and his co-speakers express their views. Quite correctly, Horowitz calls American university and colleges to be the impregnable forts of leftist propaganda. ...

This is exactly what the fascists did in Germany in the 1930s.” And ironically, organizations like the National Project to Defend Dissent & Critical Thinking in Academia joined hands in creating these fascist-style disruptions. Can Horowitz be faulted for condemning the left for forming an unholy alliance with the dangerous Islamists? >>>

Front Page Magazine: "What We Did Last Week", by David Horowitz (Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week 2007)

... anti-American leftists and organizations supporting the Islamic jihad organized a national campaign of vitriol and hate that was almost unprecedented. This campaign revealed the lengths to which the anti-American left will go to prevent the public from discussing the nature of the holy war that has been declared on them. It was characterized by a political McCarthyism whose levels of character assassination and slander had not been seen since the early days of the Cold War.

Speakers for the events and students organizing them were attacked as religious bigots and anti-Muslim “racists” and “fascists.” Leftwing activists at George Washington University posted a flyer fraudulently pretending to be put out by members of the Young America’s Foundation ... with the intention of imputing a hate crime to students who were in fact defending Muslims. These verbal attacks were accompanied by physical threats, although violence was mercifully avoided ... The attacks on Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week exposed the broad scope of the alliance between radical Islam and American leftists who regard it as their political task >>>

Atlas Shrugs: "Nazis? By Their Fruits We Shall Know them.......And so we know them"

We must understand the tremendous challenges facing our civilization and work with those who defend the democratic values and freedoms. ... I find it difficult to believe, even for a moment, that Vlaams Belang and the Swedish Democrats chose to support the Brussels Counter Jihad summit and host Jews like me and Andrew Bostom (to specifically speak on the legacy of Islamic anti-semitism, no less) while really, secretly being neo Nazis. To what end? ...

Nazi collaborators have always been a problem for all of Europe, Austria, France, Italy etc. even America. If all the collaborators would had been jailed or boycotted, there wouldn’t had been one European politician. ... Legions of former Nazis moved to Socialist parties and aligned themselves with former allies, the Arabs against Israel, America and a free Europe.

The same can be said about the European Communists, first allied with the Nazis and who never apologized (until the fall of the Soviet Union.) By G-d, they supported an inhumane regime that killed 40 million people. I do not think that the Left and the Communists are entitled to attack Filip Dewinter without looking at their own criminals.

Dewinter is right when he says that the Nazi collaborators were amnestied by other parties, even criminals became ministers (France), and chief of state (Austria). Filip differentiates between collaborators and criminals. That difference has never been made in France, in Austria, or by socialist parties. >>>

Vlaams Belang's cause triggers memes in Belgium originating from that unhappy period. Political interests will do the rest for collating Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interests) with neo Nazism. The isolation of the party, known as the cordon sanitaire - however it violates democratic rights - remains complete. They looking at a total ban.

Gulf News: "'Che like Chamran' is a paradox", by Amir Taheri

In his latest video-taped message, Al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden tried to lay the foundations for an alliance between radical Islamism and Western leftist "progressisim". He quoted with admiration a number of American and European leftists, including Noam Chomsky, the polemicist-cum-linguist who believes that the United States is a "rogue state" and the source of all evil on earth.

The dream of an Islamist-Marxist alliance, however, is not confined to Bin Laden and Al Qaida. It also plays a part in the overall strategy of Iran. It is in the name of "a global progressist front", Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez are sponsoring a number of projects to underline "the ideological kinship of the left and revolutionary Islam".

The theme, hammered in by Ahmadinejad during his recent visit to Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia, was the inspiration for a four-day seminar organised by his supporters at Tehran University last week. With the blessings of Chavez ... >>>

Politeia: "Berlin-Tehran: the Counter Enlightenment Axis"

... Islamism ... was established as a mass movement by the Muslim Brotherhood, which stands in relation to Al Qaeda as the Bolsheviks did to communism. The Brotherhood is a revolutionary political movement focused almost entirely on Zionism and the Jews. It is inspired by two sources: the Koran and Islamic theology, plus Nazi doctrine and influences, using not only Nazi-like patterns of action and slogans but also, historically, Nazi funding." >>>

Politeia: "2015: The Triumph of Evil or, "What Happened?!"

... Psychologist/blogger Dr Sanity in a brilliant post "Strange Love: How they learnt to stop worrying and love the Iranian Bomb" described it like this: "Recent articles in the MSM (see here and here) suggest that the left is gearing up for an all out assault on the possibility of war with Iran. They intend to do this by using the talking point that "they can live with a nuclear Iran." ... In fact, we can translate (that) into "learning to live without Israel and the Jews". Because that is what the practical consequence of this leftist line of reasoning amounts to."

The doctor is as incisive as ever! But as the tally at present stands at 110 million victims for the whole of Counter-Enlightenment philosophies, who's to blink at a genocide more or less if it's done in the name of universal common good?! An amoral act of cowardice is better than having to fight any war, however morally justified, right?

Anybody who'd take the trouble of objectively thinking about the proposition before us, throwing momentarily aside psychopathology and the habitual ideological blinkers, would have to admit that such are the consequences of letting Iran off the nuclear hook. >>>

The Lighthouse: "Leftists for Sharia"

For some time now I have been persuaded that, whereas Islamism may pose a serious threat to Western civilization as we know it, a certain brand of Western Leftists should be feared even more. There is of course the cooperation of Islam and the Left in the Unholy Alliance (see here for interfaces and commonalities), but the type of Lefty I am referring to at the moment, is in a pathological league of his own ...

The patient preferably also identifies strongly with what he or she perceives as the underdog, the Oppressed minority of the Marxist dialectic. In this way they share in the attention the underdog is getting on the basis of his particular victimhood. >>>

The Lighthouse: "The Unholy Alliance: Conflating Three Great isms"
... from 1939 to 1941 Communism and National Socialism shared a history of cooperation. The German army held manoeuvres in Russia and vice versa. Both totalitarian ideologies were Socialist and differed only on its implementation: the Nazis were nationally inclined (using the ethnic dialectic of the German Volk), while the Communists favoured global subjugation (hence the 'Internationale').

After World War II the Left portrayed Hitler as the great satan. Here the dichotomy of Nazism versus Communism was born: this was however a Communist PR ploy which has worked to this day. But far from being opposites both ideologies are in fact each other's mirror image, cousins if you will, while the real opposition, the actual enemy, is Classical Liberalism or Libertarianism, rooted in the Enlightenment and in the West ...

Over time and through various twists of history the two totalitarian isms also got transplanted onto Middle Eastern soil, where they gave birth to Panarabism, Arab Nationalism and Ba'athism.Today's political correctness emanates from a revived Marxism from which the baby boom generation of the 60s ... they just cannot pop out of the Marxist dialectic. >>>

The Weekly Standard: "Postmodern Jihad", by Waller R. Newell
Much has been written about Osama bin Laden's Islamic fundamentalism; less about the contribution of European Marxist postmodernism to bin Laden's thinking. In fact, the ideology by which al Qaeda justifies its acts of terror owes as much to baleful trends in Western thought as it does to a perversion of Muslim beliefs. Osama's doctrine of terror is partly a Western export.

To see this, it is necessary to revisit the intellectual brew that produced the ideology of Third World socialism in the 1960s. A key figure here is the German philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), who not only helped shape several generations of European leftists and founded postmodernism, but also was a leading supporter of the Nazis. Heidegger argued for the primacy of "peoples" in contrast with the alienating individualism of "modernity." In order to escape the yoke of Western capitalism and the "idle chatter" of constitutional democracy, the "people" would have to return to its primordial destiny through an act of violent revolutionary "resolve." >>>
