WSJ: "The Politics of Reassurance"

If the prospect of an Obama presidency doesn't make you nervous, Joe Biden's latest comments, reported by ABC News, may change the way you feel:
"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you--not financially to help him--we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."
As Commentary's Jennifer Rubin notes, this adds up to a pretty good argument for electing a president who is experienced and tough--i.e., John McCain. (...) >>>

What's disturbing about Biden's remarks is that he seems to anticipate a domestic crisis of sorts as well--that Obama's response to the crisis will be unpopular among the public, or some segment of it, and that his backers will simply have to have faith. But Biden gives us no clue as to what he thinks Obama will do that will prompt a backlash--or which segment of the public he expects to lash back. To hear Biden tell it, a vote for Obama is a vote for God-and-Joe-Biden-only-know-what. In the absence of clarity from Biden and Obama, people have begun speculating as to what may lie in store ... also, Michael Ledeen ...

PJM: "Biden Yet Again"

(...)“Watch. We’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. “And he’s going to need help . . . to stand with him. Because it’s not going to be apparent initially; it’s not going to be apparent that we’re right.” The surprising part of his statement is the last sentence. What does he mean when he says “it’s not going to be apparent that we’re right”? (...) he may think he knows something real.

There are some blog reports suggesting that US intelligence agencies now believe that Iran will be building its first bomb by next February, and Biden may take those reports seriously. If so, President Obama would have to do something. What? Does Biden think that his administration’s first instinct would be to call a conference and then fly to Tehran to negotiate a big deal? Or does he think it would then be necessary to take drastic action? The talking cure seems more to Obama’s taste, but no serious person believes it would succeed. Who knows? But imagine if Palin had said such a thing. We’d have a million column inches explaining why she doesn’t belong on a national ticket. >>>

Politeia: "The Alinsky Legacy: the Subversion Handbook," by Dr Sam Holliday

'Rules for Radicals' by Saul D. Alinsky is an handbook for how 'Have-Nots' can take power away from the 'Haves.' In it he explains how to manipulate the political system through "community organization" using a mantra of "change". Obama is the embodiment of the Alinsky's Legacy. This has been known for many years, but even today very few people recognize it. (...) The ability of Obama to implement Alinsky's plan is due to his appealing image, to his skills, and to the transformation of American culture as a result of postmodern thought. It is not difficult to connect the dots. (...) Why does black pride and white guilt count for so much? Why does Obama's hypocrisy, financial indiscretions, anti-American past, and questionable associations count for so little? Could the answers be that the USA is now in the declining stages of its cycle? (See: Understanding Change) How far will the Legacy of Frank Davis and Saul Alinsky be taken? Can it be stopped? Weasel Zippers: "Denver Archbishop: Obama the Most Devoted Baby Killer Since Roe v. Wade Decision 35 Years ago...."

Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church." Chaput, one of the nation's most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women's group. His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote. While Chaput has won praise from traditionalist Catholics for stressing opposition to abortion as a foundational voting issue, voices on the Catholic left have sought to apply church teachings to war, poverty, the environment and other issues. Politeia: "The O Plot Thickens: Law Suits Like Kittens"

The situation around Philip Berg's pending law suit, demanding proof of Barack Obama's natural born citizenship - which is a precondition for the Presidency - is getting more outrageous by the day. (...) The candidate and Howard Dean refuse to clear up the matter of Obama's natural born citizenship, so we're headed for a constitutional crisis. Change! is about right. (...) There are at least two more law suits being filed, one of which in Washington. Many more Americans are considering taking legal action as well (see comments on Berg's website Obama Crimes).

Once you've recovered your breath from that one, feast your eyes on this jaw-dropper: footage from an ACORN meeting in January 2007 (hat tip: Expose Obama) in which the candidate, spreading favors around, pledges the association of community organizers, they will shape his Presidential agenda. (...) That over, we've got some pretty awful video material about the candidate's involvement in the post election violence in Kenya, orchestrated by Communist Germany raised cousin Raila Odinga. And guess what... he stood on an election platform, promising to ... "spread the wealth around."

World Net Daily in the latest despatch from Nairobi: "How Obama friend tried to give nation to Muslim minority - Read 3-page agreement that promised to Islamize Kenya, protect terrorists".
Read here and see there how Raila indulged in another clan habit, political opportunism. Raila came into power by signing a pact with the country's Muslim representatives, imposing sharia law and evoking cooperation with the GWOT - particularly outrageous in the light of the following.

In 2006, as a member of the Senate, Obama campaigned in Kenya for his cousin at the taxpayer's expense. Contained in following PDF document is a line that states “Friends of Senator BO” and the amount shown is 66,000,000 Kenyan Shillings, which equates to US$1 million. As a side note, Dick Morris Associates is listed providing the value (21,335,000 KES or US$344,000) of pro bono work for Raila Odinga: PDF-Consolidated Statement of Campaign Financial Activities. Politeia: "We Are All Plumbers Now"

This is perhaps the most ominous aspect yet of both the radicalized Democratic Party in general, and the Obama campaign in particular: they appear to be after ways how the law can the used to criminalize opponents. Uncle Joe would be proud! Point in case is a local Democratic chairman reacting to Philip Berg's valid lawsuit for Barack Obama to present evidence of natural born citizenship. In this footage we can literally see him looking for ways to delegitimise Berg's efforts: either he's on a personal vendetta, or he must be trespassing on somebody's privacy rights, etc. (....) This is as much undermining the rule of law, as ACORN is crushing the very foundation of democracy. Republican rallies are almost certainly infiltrated by agitators. These tactics are truly and utterly irresponsible and destructive.

A Pajamas Media article "Justice Dept. Targets GOP Activists" lists one case of legal abuse, Rick Moore in "Obama Wants to Prosecute Republicans Trying to Stop Voter Fraud" chronicles another. Then there is the minor matter of the Truth Squads (read Missouri Governor Blunt's press release), followed by Obama's judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment. (...)

What cannot be ignored today is the hyena mob attack on citizen Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher which is shedding whatever remnants of respectability that perhaps remained. It tells of an end-justifies-the-means mentality that comes with the pragmatist approach. What's more disturbing? The fact itself, that some don't see the problem, or that others completely miss the point? The unconscionable mob turns on a single citizen, a plumber, so as to divert attention away from the redistributive nature of the Obama policies, the egalitarian collectivism that was to remain shrouded in mystery until "the deal was closed." The episode is exemplary for the ongoing con job. (...) The series on relativism and violence is an ongoing project, but part I and part II have already been posted. >>>

Politeia: How Do You Spell 'Redistribution of Wealth'?"

(...) One of Barack Obama's most potent campaign claims is that he'll cut taxes for no less than 95% of "working families." He's even promising to cut taxes enough that the government's tax share of GDP will be no more than 18.2% -- which is lower than it is today. It's a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he's also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all? There are several sleights of hand, but the most creative is to redefine the meaning of "tax cut." (...) read it all, or watch the vids >>>

If ACORN can sow enough seeds of chaos, via fraudulent registrations, to produce one big fat flying mess should the vote in several swing states be close enough to trigger recounts … they’ve accomplished their mission. Politeia: Welcome to Pomo Lingo: Alert John McCain"

In a recent post we explained that one Pomo way of shutting up an opponent is the racial slur, or any other expression of political correctness: it imposes self-censorship. A striking example from the campaign trail is the mindboggling chutzpah of Gov. David Paterson, referring to the McCain-Palin ticket as "vampires" and "blood suckers," while a day or so later accusing them of racism. Paterson has devised a delightful Postmodern thing no one has ever heard of: satirizing the profession of community organizing is "racist code"! It's Subjectivism in action: two parties, two standards: he - Paterson - is allowed to violate any standard of polite human interaction, while at the same time building a trumped up case against his opponents. See it if you will, as the redistribution of speech rights. (...) Paterson is very justified in his action because he - as a Democrat - is speaking in the name of all victimhood. John McCain - like the gentleman that he is - unawares of the booby traps set by Pomo lingo, has already fallen in line. Very effective, is Pomo lingo. (...)

From the campaign trail: the indignation about the fake accusation that Barack Obama is a "terrorist." Two things are happening here: para-exegesis and fake rage. The para-exegesis is the deliberate misinterpretation of the accusation. No one - except perhaps a hapless pundit giving way to prolonged provocation - has accused Obama of being a terrorist. The real morality behind the problem of hobnobbing with Ayers is the lack of judgment, promoting Sandinista type school councils (LSCs), making the Presidency vulnerable to blackmail, and showing a pattern of associating with the enemies of the land, a trait bordering treasonous behavior.

... slowly but surely the exposure is shifting to ACORN, the organization which Obama trained in Alinsky tactics and whom he lawyered ... it works both ways: if they get away with it, so much the better - if not, they clog up the system ... watch the vid! ... Soren Dayton in "Strange Happenings During Ohio Early Voting Period" discusses the update of John Fund' book on election fraud, Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy: the problems of 2000 have not been significantly addressed. A close presidential election that turns on the kinds of issues that arose in Ohio would further delegitimize our democratic system ... (...) >>>

Thanks to Palin: "ACORN Fraud"

More voter fraud from ACORN. The Democrats are trying to steal the elections with fraud. This has been going on for years and has been swept under the rug. They need to shut down ACORN and Project Vote. This is not voter disenfranchising, this is to have free and fair elections. This should never be tolerated and those that are involves should be thrown in jail and have their voting rights taken away. Enough is enough. This is getting to be a theme every year. For the past 3 or 4 Presidential votes, ACORN has been caught filing false voter registrations. And to say that it is not their fault is preposterous, ignorance is not a defense against the law. >>>

It’s important to note that these three are likely a small fraction of the number of false registration cards that have been turned in by ACORN. Townhall: "The Real Obama"

Critics of Senator Barack Obama make a strategic mistake when they talk about his "past associations." (...) Associations are very different from alliances. Allies are not just people who happen to be where you are or who happen to be doing the same things you do. You choose allies deliberately for a reason. The kind of allies you choose says something about you. Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, William Ayers and Antoin Rezko are not just people who happened to be at the same place at the same time as Barack Obama. They are people with whom he chose to ally himself for years (...) an alliance is not just an "association" from being at the same place at the same time. Obama could have allied himself with all sorts of other people. But, time and again, he allied himself with people who openly expressed their hatred of America.(...) Fortunately, there is a documented, factual account of what Barack Obama has actually been doing over the years, as distinguished from what he has been saying during this election campaign, in a new best-selling book. That book is titled "The Case Against Barack Obama" by David Freddoso. (...)

The story of Obama's political career is not a pretty story. He won his first political victory by being the only candidate on the ballot-- after hiring someone skilled at disqualifying the signers of opposing candidates' petitions (...) Obama came out in favor of the Daley machine and against reform candidates. (...) "People don't come to Obama for what he's done, they come because of what they hope he can be." Politeia: "CNN Recover Objectivity Mode: Obama Lies"

Obama downplays his relationship with unrepentant terrorist Ayers, claiming "he is just someone who lives in my neighborhood who did terrible things when I was just eight years old". Another line Obama likes to take is that he just sat on a Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) board with Ayers. This is correct, but it is only partial truth. Smears!, cries Obama: the election is all about Unity, Hope, Change - McCain trying to 'hoodwink' and does 'swift boat style' attacks. Well, it's getting harder to pull wool.

The CNN program reports that grants made by the CAC were funneled to Ayers’ favored schools with radical agendas, when Obama was a little older than just eight years old. In the recent post "The Hidden Sinisterisms of the O Campaign" we quoted from unsuspicious quarters, blogger Global Labor, a unionist of the Social Democrat variety, deeply worried that Obama's brand of Socialism may turn out to be of the radical persuasion, per Messrs Castro, Morales and Chavez. Obama - we find - is a typical Postmodern Leftist. American Thinker: "Obama, Hillary and Palin's Disinvite", by Pamela Geller

The notorious disinviting of Sarah Palin from an anti-Ahmedinejad rally in New York is a product of the secret war Hillary Clinton is waging against the Obama presidential campaign. (...) Hillary's pull out had nothing to do with Palin. It was an implicit hit at Obama. Hillary did not want to be the one to represent Obama. Obama's position on Iran is sophomoric, idiotic and dangerous. Hillary has been more responsible and she was not going to clean up his mess. In plain terms, Hillary Clinton was not going to be the face of Obama's Iranian foreign policy. Obama has said he would meet with Ahmedinejad without condition -- essentially rewarding him for his nuclear arsenal and genocidal threats.

No way was Hillary going to pave that road for him, so she pulled out forcing Obama to face the jihad music. In withdrawing she forced him send someone in his stead -- but who? Biden? (...) The real issue is why Obama didn't send anyone to represent him at the Anti-Ahmedinejad rally? Having no one there for Obama makes it seem he did not want to upset the Hitler wannabe, or that he was pandering to his widespread support in the Muslim world or his 22% lead over McCain among Muslim Americans. Hillary wanted these question raised in the subconscious of Jewish and other pro-Israel/anti-Iran voters. In this Presidential race, Hillary is a McCain operative even if he doesn't know it. >>>

No Quarter: "A FEMINIST VOTING REPUBLICAN" by Dr. Lynette Long - Hat Tip: Thanks to Palin Blog

Two weeks ago I published an article on my blog entitled, “THE X FACTOR.” The article went viral and is posted on dozens of blogs. I have received over 1,000 emails commenting on my position as a liberal Democrat voting for McCain-Palin. (...) Many feminists can’t understand my choice. I am not betraying the cause, the fight, the mission, because I don’t want to vote Democratic. The Democratic Party is not our ally.

The Democratic Party is 60% women but it has only once selected a woman as a vice-presidential candidate and that was nearly a quarter of a century ago. We are chattel in our own party. The head of the Democratic National Committee has never been a woman. Money donated to the Women’s Leadership Fund is funneled into the Obama Victory Fund. We cannot give dominion over our bodies or ourselves to one party. Current feminist groups have no teeth because they are part and parcel of the Democratic Party. They are held hostage by Roe v. Wade. They know it and the Democratic Party knows it. The only way to regain our power is to regain our vote. The Democratic Party has no reason to earn our vote. We’ve sacrificed one choice for another.
I will by not be held hostage by the Democratic Party that turned a blind eye to the corruption in the Democratic primaries and Democratic caucuses. I will not be held hostage by the Democratic Party that ignored a woman who got 18 million votes. I will not be held hostage by the Democratic Party a party that was deaf, dumb and blind to the persistent and pervasive sexist attacks against Hillary Clinton. CBS News/Opinion: "Obama's Plan To Spend Billions Overseas"

Obama’s latest audacity consists of looking Americans in the eye and decrying the billions spent each month rebuilding a foreign country. The Candidate of Hope is hoping that while he caterwauls about our lost billions, you won’t notice that he has already proposed the most jaw-dropping transfer of wealth in American history: taking nearly a trillion dollars out of the pockets of American taxpayers and doling it out to the world’s worst regimes through its most corrupt intermediary, the U.N.

The scam is better known as Obama’s Global Poverty Act. Sen. Joe Biden, his trusty running-mate, recently tried to slam it through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - the better to address the rarely discussed fact that Obama, having achieved nothing noteworthy as an Illinois state senator, is similarly without accomplishment after three years in the Senate. PJM: "Hey Obama, How’s That ‘Judgment to Lead’ Meme Going?", by Pam Meister

Barack Obama’s premise for his presidential candidacy is his “judgment to lead.” (...) what kind of judgment did Obama show in using it a week after Sarah Palin’s famous joke about lipstick being the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? His “old fish wrapped in paper” gag didn’t go over so well either. (...) How about Obama’s first executive decision — his choice of running mate? I don’t know about you, but Bazooka Joe Biden’s penchant for running the gaffe-o-matic on high probably wasn’t quite the gravitas Obama was looking for. (...) Add that to his uncanny ability to insult minority groups, inattention to detail, and inability to use his own words and you have a political powder keg just waiting to blow. (...)

Now imagine Obama in an intense negotiation with one of America’s enemies — only in an Obama presidency we won’t have enemies, we’ll have “countries with opposing viewpoints.” Any-hoo, just imagine the scene: tea and cakes have just been served on the official Oval Office tea set — festively adorned with Obama’s personal seal — and Obama, in an attempt to lighten the mood and relax his guest, says to Kim Jong Il, “Hey, I just added a great song to my iPod. It’s called ‘Short People’ by Randy Newman. Remember that one? It goes like this: ‘Short people got no reason to live … they have little hands, little eyes, they go around telling great big lies.’ … Hey, where are you going? NY Post: "Obama Tried to Stall GIs' Iraq Withdrawal", by Amir Tehari
While campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence. According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July. (...) Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations (...)" "However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open." Zebari says. (...)
While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a "realistic withdrawal date." They declined. (...) Then, judging by how long the current talks have taken, restarting the process from scratch would leave the two sides needing at least six months to come up with a draft accord. That puts us at May 2010 for when the draft might be submitted to the Iraqi parliament - which might well need another six months to pass it into law. >>>

Obama and Ayers served together on separate Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) boards for over six years. (...) Although a self-confessed failure as far as improving education standards are concerned, CAC did manage to funnel some $ 100 million to their allies in the Local School Councils (LSC's). Don't be fooled by that Orwellian term. LCS's are derided by the worried Social Democratic unionist blogger on Global Labor as vestiges, not of grassroots-up democratic institutions, but on the contrary, of strongholds of Marxist top-down authoritarianism (...)

The Global Labor blogger - perturbed by the Obama 'authoritarian' influence on education - in addition asserts that Obama's eduction adviser, Prof. Linda Darling-Hammond - like Ayers - is persuaded of the justice of the 'educational debt', reparations due to black citizens as 'historically oppressed." Leaving aside the correctness or justice of this claim, chances are that Obama, should he win the elections, would advance Prof. Darling to the education top-slot of his administration.

If Obama doesn't share the Marxist beliefs with his former CAC board colleague Ayers, then why does he have Mike Klonsky serving on the campaign blogs, answering matters pertaining to education and 'social justice', as Global Labor alleges? Both Klonsky and Ayers emerged from the SDS: whereas Ayers started his Weather Underground mob, Klonsky - via the October League - founded the US Communist Party (Marxist-Leninst) (CP (ML)), which was officially sanctioned by the Chinese regime. He does so for a simple reason: the color of his skin. If Obama loses, our children will grow up thinking of equal opportunity as a myth. His defeat would say that when handed a perfect opportunity to put the worst part of our history behind us, we chose not to. In this event, the world’s judgment will be severe and inescapable: The United States had its day but, in the end, couldn’t put its own self-interest ahead of its crazy irrationality over race. As far as philosophy goes, Obama is convinced that the federal government should be in control of income distribution and, to some extent, should regulate the free marketplace. The senator also believes that poor Americans have a basic right to free health care and monetary supplements from the government with no strings attached. They look to the outside world as a source of information. After thorough integration they try to persuade others of their point of view on the basis mature debate and valid argument.

This simple premise does not hold true for those who have rejected reason as their method to knowledge. They rather chose for their input emotion, passion, intuition and various other means of revelation from within the depths of their own persons (...) Other than the rationalists, they cannot rely on facts, reason, debate, and arguments to convince us of their point of view: they hold that such objective information simply isn't available to humans. So loyal, in fact, that style was an easily accepted substitute for substance at this week’s convention. (...) Bill Clinton intimated that Republicans hate autistic kids. John Kerry showed his hide is still plenty chapped over that Swift boat thing. Joe Biden struck the obligatory pro-war concession (Afghanistan) for the anti-war party. And Barack Obama drove home the point that he won’t be upstaged by anyone, essentially snagging Biden’s spotlight night Wednesday with a surprise appearance and impromptu speech at the Pepsi Center (...)

PJs: "What Lurks in the Ayers-Annenberg Files?" by Clarice Feldman

(...) Wednesday night the campaign conducted an outrageous and preposterous “swarm” of Chicago radio station WGN, the mild and moderate radio host Milt Rosenberg, and the equally temperate guest of his show, Stanley Kurtz. Kurtz, in Chicago to review the 1,000 CAC files the university library relented and allowed him to see, was asked to discuss the matter with host Rosenberg. The Obama camp was invited to send a representative and refused to do so although the headquarters is but four blocks away. Instead the campaign organized a swarm of non-stop callers to WGN attacking Kurtz as a “vicious racist” a “slimy character assassin” and suggesting WGN failed its obligations as a broadcaster by allowing him to publicly air his views. (...) despite these objectionable tactics Kurtz was able to tell us a bit about what he found in the first few days of the five-day window he’s been given to study the CAC files.
He reiterated what I’ve said earlier: CAC seems to have gone through $110 million to fund an educational program which two assessments — one by the Annenberg Foundation and one by an outside team — both found had accomplished nothing for the public school children of Chicago. (...) contrary to Obama’s early efforts to brush off his relationship with Ayers through a series of false claims, Ayers applied for and got the CAC grant, was chair of the other collaborative group that closely worked with CAC, was present at board meetings and retreats with Obama, and was considered an “ex officio” member of CAC’s board.

The CAC files show the organization funneled money to activist organizations and did so on ideological grounds, favoring applications that focused on ethnic identity and bilingual education and turning down grant proposals which did not. (...) Kurtz added that Obama’s pre-CAC organizing work for the Gamaliel Foundation was for a group whose views were remarkably like Obama’s “spiritual mentor” Rev. Wright’s anti-American liberation philosophy. He recommended the book Doing Justice: Congregation and Communities, by Dennis Jacobsen, which he described in an NRO article “Senator Stealth.” Notable is not only the views of this organization but that like all organizing groups founded on the work of Saul Alinsky, the organizers were practiced at hiding their extreme leftist views, a tactic considered essential to gain credence with the groups they were working with. He also noted that these racial spoils schemes and redistributionist views were utterly consistent with all the positions Obama took as a state senator.
While Obama’s camp is trying to suggest that his critics are linking him to Ayers’ conduct in the 1960s, in fact, we are talking about the views and conduct of both these men — now clearly established as close allies, not passing acquaintances in the Hyde Park neighborhood they both inhabit — in the 1990s, along with the utter failure of the generously funded program to help inner-city Chicago school children they managed into the ground (...) >>>

When Joe Biden accepts the invitation to become the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee in Springfield, Illinois, later today, will he write the speech himself or borrow the words from Neil Kinnock? (...) during his 1988 presidential run, he plagiarized paragraphs from British Labour Party Leader Neil Kinnock (...) (...) If you artificially increase the pool of money available to colleges, they will increase rates to soak up that pool. In short, if you stimulate demand while supply remains fixed, prices climb. (...)

Biden is almost a “neocon” in his foreign policy views. (...) “His efforts to combat hostilities in the Balkans in the 1990s brought national attention and influenced presidential policy: traveling repeatedly to the region, he made one meeting famous by calling Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic a “war criminal.” He consistently argued for lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims, investigating war crimes and administering NATO air strikes. Biden’s subsequent “lift and strike” resolution was instrumental in convincing President Bill Clinton to use military force in the face of systematic human rights violation.”
“Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Biden was supportive of the Bush administration’s efforts, calling for additional ground troops in Afghanistan and agreeing with the administration’s assertion that Saddam Hussein needed to be eliminated. The Bush administration rejected an effort Biden undertook with Senator Richard Lugar to pass a resolution authorizing military action only after the exhaustion of diplomatic efforts. In October 2002, Biden voted for the final resolution to support the war in Iraq. He has long supported the Bush administration’s war effort and appropriations to pay for it, but has argued repeatedly that more soldiers are needed, the war should be internationalized, and the Bush administration should “level with the American people” about the cost and length of the conflict.

USA Today: "Obama, the postmodernist," by Jonah Goldberg

Asked to define sin, Barack Obama replied that sin is "being out of alignment with my values." Statements such as this have caused many people to wonder whether Obama has a God complex or is hopelessly arrogant. For the record, sin isn't being out of alignment with your own values (if it were, Hannibal Lecter wouldn't be a sinner because his values hold that it's OK to eat people) nor is it being out of alignment with Obama's — unless he really is our Savior.
- Caption: Illustration by Suzy Parker, USA TODAY -

(...) Obama is a postmodernist. An explosive fad in the 1980s, postmodernism was and is an enormous intellectual hustle in which left-wing intellectuals take crowbars and pick axes to anything having to do with the civilizational Mount Rushmore of Dead White European Males. (...) Obama gives every indication of having evolved from this intellectual soup. As a student and, later, a law school instructor, Obama was sympathetic to Critical Race Theory, a wholly owned franchise of postmodernism. At Harvard, Obama revered Derrick Bell, a controversial black law professor who preferred personally defined literary truths over old-fashioned literal truth. Words are power, Bell and Co. argued, and your so-called facts are merely myths of the white power structure. When Hillary Clinton criticized Obama for being all about empty rhetoric and no action, Obama mocked Clinton — "Don't tell me words don't matter!" — sounding like a sorcerer offended by the suggestion that magic incantations are mere sounds. One reason Obama seems arrogant is that he can never admit he was wrong (...) Obama sometimes literally gets exasperated with people who think his words can mean anything other than what he thinks they should mean. (...) he has this grating habit of prefacing his new positions with something like "as I said at the time." But he didn't say "it" at the time, he said the opposite of "it." But saying that he said "it" is, to him, the same as having said "it." (...) Post-racial is just another convenient term used to advance a left-wing agenda under the guise of some highfalutin buzzwords. (...)

The Obama campaign (...) relationship to reality is almost theoretical. Sure, the campaign has policy proposals, but they are props to advance the narrative of a grand movement existing in order to be a movement galvanized around the singular ideal of movement-ness. (...) "We are the ones we have been waiting for!" Well, of course you are. (...) Nuclear war? Feh. No, walls, walls are the danger. Of course, these new walls aren't real. "When I first saw the recently released Indonesian translation of Barack Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming The American Dream", over here in Southeast Asia I was completely taken aback not only by the violent imagery in new title of the book, "Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung Putih", but by the fact that it was not really a translation at all, but rather a completely different title than the original book. A correct translation of the title of Obama's book would have been "Keberanian Harapan: Pemikiran Untuk Meraih Kembali Impian America" which translates into "Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming The American Dream". However, the title for the Indonesian translation of Barack Obama's book is "Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung Putih" which translates into "Assault Hope: From Jakarta to the White House". World Net Daily: "Illegal Obama donors: Middle Eastern Arabs - Gazan brothers' illicit contributions listed in government campaign filings," by Aaron Klein - Hat Tip: Atlas Shrugs

Palestinian brothers inside the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip are listed in government election filings as having donated $29,521.54 to Sen. Barack Obama's campaign. Donations of this nature would violate election laws (...) Last week, the Atlas Shrugs blog outlined a series of donations in 2007 made to Obama's campaign from two individuals, Monir Edwan and Hosam Edwan, totaling $29,521.54. In an online form on Obama's campaign site, the Edwans listed their street as "Tal Esaltan," which they wrote was located in "Rafah, GA." Rafah is not a city in Georgia. (...) A WND investigation tracked down the Edwans, who are brothers living in the Tal Esaltan neighborhood of Rafah, a large refugee camp in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. (...) the two brothers praised Obama and admitted giving the money online to his campaign. They said they are not U.S. citizens or green card holders but are citizens of "Palestine." (...) Monir and Hasam Edwan denied their financial transactions online – listed as donations in U.S. government election filings – were actual donations to Obama's campaign. Instead they claimed they purchased about $30,000 in Obama T-shirts (...) FEC (Federal Election Commission) spokesman Biersack told WND contributions from overseas are allowed if the donations are coming from U.S. citizens or green card carriers. But he said accepting money from foreigners would violate election provisions. (...) >>> Take the poll >>>

Townhall: Obama and the Racism Card," by Rich Lowry

(...) In a statement Obama repeated three times, he said what George Bush and John McCain are "going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills." Translation: Bush and McCain are going to go all Bull Connor on me. Neither has done any such thing, of course. McCain has distanced himself from attacks with the remotest hint of racial undertones. When a talk-radio host mentioned Obama's middle name several times in the course of an introduction of McCain at a rally, McCain roundly denounced him. When the North Carolina Republican Party ran an -- entirely aboveboard -- ad linking Obama with his longtime pastor Jeremiah Wright, McCain loudly objected. Obama's charge is a flat-out smear. Afterward, an Obama spokesman implausibly insisted the dollar-bills comment was not about race: "What Barack Obama was talking about was that he didn't get here after spending decades in Washington." This is rich. (...) >>>

The Liberty Sphere: "'Muslims for Obama' Seeks to Impose Sharia Law "

A group that calls itself 'Muslims for Obama' is calling for the passage of laws in the U.S. that impose Sharia on American culture, according to the website Muslims Against Sharia. While the group stops short of calling for imposing the full force and letter of Sharia law, the laws the group wants to implement would be a form of Sharia law, or 'Sharia light,' which would make drastic accommodations for American Muslims that are not made for any other religious group. (...) And last but not least, they want a special committee of Muslim Americans to make recommendations concerning U.S. foreign policy. (...) This is not simply a group of Muslims who support Obama. This is a group with an agenda, an agenda which they see as having a chance of being implemented if Barack Obama is elected President of the United States. (...) It is revolution they want--change. And if their ideas are implemented, then change will surely result, that's for sure. (...) >>>

Los Angeles Times: "One world? Obama's on a different planet - The senator's Berlin speech was radical and naive," by John R. Bolton

Sen. Barack Obama said in an interview the day after his Berlin speech that it "allowed me to send a message to the American people that the judgments I have made and the judgments I will make are ones that are going to result in them being safer." If that is what the senator thought he was doing, he still has a lot to learn about both foreign policy and the views of the American people. Although well received in the Tiergarten, the Obama speech actually reveals an even more naive view of the world than we had previously been treated to in the United States. (...) it was truly radical, from an American perspective. (...) The successes Obama refers to in his speech -- the defeat of Nazism, the Berlin airlift and the collapse of communism -- were all gained by strong alliances defeating determined opponents of freedom, not by "one-worldism." ... blacks, coming of age - well, almost ...

Wall Street Journal: "Why Jesse Jackson Hates Obama," by Shelby Steele

A few weeks ago, the Rev. Jesse Jackson made something of a fool of himself. There he was -- a historical figure in his own right -- threatening the castration of Barack Obama. It was sad to see. (...) Mr. Obama's great political ingenuity was very simple: to trade moral leverage for gratitude. Give up moral leverage over whites, refuse to shame them with America's racist past, and the gratitude they show you will constitute a new form of black power. They will love you for the faith you show in them. So it is not hard to see why Mr. Jackson might have experienced Mr. Obama's emergence as something of a stiletto in the heart. Mr. Obama is a white "race card" -- moral leverage that whites can use against the moral leverage black leaders have wielded against them for decades. He is the nullification of Jesse Jackson -- the anti-Jackson. And Mr. Obama is so successful at winning gratitude from whites precisely because Mr. Jackson was so successful at inflaming and exploiting white guilt. (...)

And then Mr. Obama took it further by going to the NAACP with a message of black responsibility -- this after his speech on the need for black fathers to take responsibility for the children they sire. "Talking down to black people," Mr. Jackson mumbled. Normally, "black responsibility" is a forbidden phrase for a black leader -- not because blacks reject responsibility, but because even the idea of black responsibility weakens moral leverage over whites. When Mr. Obama uses this language, whites of course are thankful. Black leaders seethe. Nevertheless, Mr. Obama's sacrifice of black leverage has given him a chance to actually become the president. He has captured the devotion of (...) >>>

In 1985, Barack Obama traveled halfway across the country to take a job that he didn't fully understand. But, while he knew little about his new vocation--community organizer--it still had a romantic ring, at least to his 24-year-old ears. With his old classmates from Columbia, he had talked frequently about political change. Now, he was moving to Chicago to put that talk into action. His 1995 memoir, Dreams from My Father, recounts his idealistic effusions: "Change won't come from the top, I would say. Change will come from a mobilized grass roots. That's what I'll do. I'll organize black folks. At the grass roots. For change."

So why is he back to sporting pseudo-patriotism on his chest? Need you ask? The primaries are over. While seducing the hard-core MoveOn Democrats that delivered him the caucuses -- hence, the Democratic nomination -- Obama not only disdained the pin. He disparaged it. Now that he's running in a general election against John McCain, and in dire need of the gun-and-God-clinging working-class votes he could not win against Hillary Clinton, the pin is back.
